Sustainability

How FarmGold sources, stores, and ships its poultry.

Our approach

Four priorities from farm to market

Sustainability at FarmGold covers the stages between a producer and a kitchen: how poultry and eggs are sourced, how birds are cared for, how food is stored and used, and how it reaches each market.

These are current priorities, not finished programmes. Each one sets what we ask of our producers and distribution partners today.

What we ask of our producers

Traceability starts at the producer, not at the port.

Halal certification, hygiene protocols, and batch records begin at the source. We ask the farming, processing, and logistics partners behind our poultry to document each stage they handle.

Current priorities

  • Supplier recordsDocument the farm, processing, and logistics stages behind each batch.
  • Animal welfareRaise husbandry and welfare standards in supplier reviews.
  • Feed, water, and landCollect producer data on feed, water, and land use.

Care for birds at every stage

Birds deserve humane treatment, from daily care on the farm to handling and transport.

For both poultry and egg sourcing, animal welfare belongs in the conversation with producers. These principles guide the questions about husbandry and welfare in our supplier reviews.

Welfare priorities

  • Feed and clean waterReliable access to suitable feed and fresh drinking water.
  • Living conditionsClean shelter, ventilation, and space for movement and natural behaviour.
  • Health and careRegular observation and prompt attention to illness or injury.
  • Humane handlingCare during catching, transport, and processing to reduce fear, distress, and avoidable suffering.

03 Storage and waste
Priority 03 · Storage and waste

Protecting food through the cold chain

Frozen poultry stays safe only while the cold chain holds.

Every pack carries a storage temperature and handling instructions. Matching the cut to the dish and following those instructions cuts waste in commercial and home kitchens alike.

Current priorities

  • Cold chainHold -18°C from our cold store to the buyer’s.
  • Cut selectionHelp kitchens match the cut to the dish and plan portions.
  • PackagingReview packaging materials while keeping the barrier frozen food needs.

Working with the partners who move our poultry

Every shipment passes through several hands before it reaches a kitchen.

FarmGold supplies wholesalers in several countries. We work with the cold stores, carriers, and distributors who handle our poultry on the standards each market requires.

Current priorities

  • Long-term supplyAgree repeat terms with buyers rather than one-off shipments.
  • Product informationPublish specifications and handling guidance where buyers can find them.
  • Shipment planningWeigh storage, routing, and waste when planning each shipment.
